Robbing the Bank (tm) Bohemian Art Festival began in 2008 with three festivals a year for three years (2008-2010) and then one festival in 2011 and 2013 & 2014. The 2014 RTB is the 12th festival.
This festival began as a way to promote the Art Bank Gallery and the East End of Mass. Ave. and to provide a unique hands on, family-friendly event where art was being created and artists from one art form inspired (robbed) from the other.
The founders are Dan Haynes (owner of Art Bank Gallery), Mike Loudermilk (photographer), and Luke Austin Daugherty (singer/songwriter, poet, painter, author, storyteller). Luke named the festival.
Art Bank Gallery:
Art Bank Gallery, once, allegedly, the daring site of a robbery by the Depression-era gangster John Dillinger. We have proudly transformed over the years into something even more historical--an art gallery.
The history of the building and its current use mix to create a free-spirited atmosphere that warmly welcomes everyone. The multifaceted collection of art presented throughout our gallery is impressive in its variety. Whether you visit us on IDADA First Friday Art Tour, Second Friday, one of our many events during the month, or even on a regular weekday, you will have the opportunity to meet our professional artists for one-on-one conversation. Feel free to come visit us!
