Quote from Eddie Prather
Minor Prophet Studio (October 10, 2007)

"Every now and again as a producer & engineer we encounter an artist that is competent & relaxed, confident & unaffected by what others may say concerning his views. Luke is one such artist. He  is succinct without being trite, simple without being simplistic, humble when he could be proud. He is versatile, insightful, resourceful and open. He is teachable yet leads well himself. Proud to know him, and recommend his music to you as a listener as both fresh and inviting. Nice to find in days in which most of the life and spontaneity is squeezed from a lot of recordings. I really like his latest effort..."    Eddie Prather, Minor Prophet Studio

(Luke partnered with Eddie on "Sweet Freedom" 2009, "Love, War & Metaphor" 2007 and "Peace Revolution - Live At The Artsgarden" 2006.)

"With the folk sense of Neil Young and the spiritual passion of Rich Mullins, Luke's music is a testimony of compassion for a hurting and wounded world.  The music of Luke Austin Daugherty commands our attention to those God would have us love unconditionally as He Himself loves.  The honest and down to earth lyrics and sound of Daugherty's music will refresh anyone who needs a break from the hard core sound of much of today's talent.

His music simply causes the listener to step back and think, not just be entertained." Monty' Man, Take12Radio

Love, War and Metaphor-The New CD!!!

    from Luke:

"Well, the new cd project just went to press today. I'm excited and tired from getting it finished. It was a different kind of project from some that I've done so far. Almost all storytelling, not so much "topical" material.

Some cool facts. There are 18 tracks with 10 being songs. The rest (except for one) are all little speaking parts from the live show at the Artsgarden in Indianapolis, Indiana. I like to tell little stories at my shows and not just be a cool stand-offish (is that a word?) folk-rockstar. Not that I'm a rockstar, folk or otherwise, but cut me some slack. Also, of the songs, 6 are straight live. Just me with Tim Hof on percussion. I played all of the instruments on the studio stuff (it's cheaper and faster that way). 2 Are from the studio and 2 are "hybrid" songs. On "Louis Was His Name, a song about my Grandpa (Louis H. Borst) who passed before I was born, we took about a third of the live cut and spliced it with studio stuff. It sounds pretty cool. On "Lexi Danced," we did basicly the same thing. The studio part was from a cut I recorded about a year ago for a tribute album for her family and friends.

I worked with Eddie Prather from Minor Prophet Studio in Avon, Indiana, on all of the production, recording and mastering in studio. Jeff Mountjoy from the Artsgarden did the live engineering. The cover art is by yours truely, photos by my wife Angela and Cheri Herron. Graphic design by Cheri Herron and the Lukemeister. And, as usual, Bella Louisa (my manager) pulled it all together.

I was pretty stoked about "Peace Revolution" which came out just over a year ago, but I have a different, more accomplished feeling about this project as a songwriter. It just has a different vibe. We'll have some of the songs on soon by the way. Hope you enjoy it and buy a lot of copies so I can quit carrying furniture."

    Blessings, Luke Austin Daugherty

Luke recorded "Love, War & Metaphor" live at the Artsgarden July, 2007, and the studio songs and mixing & mastering were done at Minor Prophet Studio. The CDs were duplicated at North Street Media.

CD  included in the VIP Gift Bag for Heartland Film Festival

    Note:

This website is designed to feature Luke's creative efforts over the last 4 years...from 2004 to the present time.

For those interested in Luke's total musical efforts...he has been publicly performing music for 12 years.

From the first time Luke heard his Center Grove High School English teacher, Mr. Ken Wilson, perform with a guitar in the classroom, Luke has been involved in some aspect of music. Luke took a few guitar lessons and had a few good mentors...but, for the most part, taught himself to play drums, harmonica, bass, acoustic and electric guitars. The songwriting aspect stems from his passion for communicating and sharing his ideas. This began when he was very young (age 7 or so) in the form of writing poems and stories.

Luke's public performances began when he played bass with a Praise band, Faith Rest Drill. For 3 years (1996 - 1998) they lead worship at the Grace Church of Mooresville along with performing at coffee houses and other events. The band performed some of Luke's original songs along with covers and hymns. This band was lead by Pearl Strong and had many members including Sherry Parsons, James Jones, Julia, Pat McGinley and Angela Edmonson (who became Luke's wife!).

And for 4 years, from the years 2000 - 2003, Luke took his guitar with him every week to the Johnson County Juvenile Center (Franklin, IN) to perform songs and teach a Bible study for the youth. During this time he was also performing at church.
